Wij is a Polish music band that creates a unique blend of heavy, atmospheric sounds inspired by 70s proto-metal and elements of hard rock and stoner. The band was founded in Warsaw and is known for the dark atmosphere of its music, which features references to mythology, folk beliefs and the dark recesses of the human mind. Wij describes its work as a “musical Frankenstein” that combines diverse inspirations to create a unique sound on the Polish alternative scene.
The band consists of Tuja Emerald (vocals), Finger (baritone guitar) and Bob (drums). Their first album, “Dziwidło,” released in 2021, won acclaim for its original approach and for combining archaic sounds with modern production. In 2023, they released another album, “Przestwór,” which continues their musical explorations, telling stories inspired by legends and myths about mysterious creatures such as lichens and basilisks, as well as cosmic and existential themes
