Skalpel

Skalpel is a Polish musical duo that creates music blending jazz, electronic, and downtempo genres. It consists of Marcin Cichy and Igor Pudło, who met during their studies at the Radio and Television Department of the University of Silesia in Katowice.

The duo gained prominence in the 2000s, primarily due to the release of their debut album simply titled “Skalpel” in 2004. This album was well-received both in Poland and internationally, and their characteristic sound, inspired by Polish jazz from the 1960s and 1970s, became their musical trademark.

Following the success of their debut album, Skalpel released several more albums, such as “Konfusion” (2005), “Skalpel: Live” (2006), “Skalpel: Transit” (2008), and “Skalpel: 1958” (2014). In their work, the duo experiments with various musical styles, blending traditional jazz sounds with electronic beats and samples.

Skalpel’s music is often used in films, commercials, and TV series, contributing to their increased popularity both in Poland and abroad. Their work is appreciated by fans of electronic music as well as jazz, and the duo remains active in the music scene, continuing to record new music and performing worldwide.
