Pidżama Porno

Pidżama Porno is a prominent Polish punk rock band, formed in 1987 by vocalist Krzysztof “Grabaż” Grabowski and guitarist Andrzej “Kozak” Kozakiewicz. Initially focusing on punk rock, the band’s music evolved over time to incorporate elements of various genres, including ska, reggae, and alternative rock.

Led by Krzysztof Grabowski, who is also known for his poetry published in the book “Welwetowe swetry,” Pidżama Porno quickly gained recognition in the Polish punk rock scene. Their provocative and often ironic lyrics touched on social, political, and interpersonal themes.

The band’s journey began in December 1987 when Grabowski and Kozakiewicz, then students at the University of Poznań, joined forces to create music. They released their debut material titled “Ulice jak stygmaty” in 1989, followed by their second album “Futurista” in 1990, featuring the then-unknown vocalist Kasia Nosowska on backing vocals.

Despite a brief breakup in 1990, Pidżama Porno reformed in 1995 and gained popularity with the release of their EP “Zamiast burzy.” They went on to sign a record deal with S.P. Records, leading to the release of albums like “Złodzieje zapalniczek” (1997) and “Styropian” (1998), which featured hit singles such as “Ezoteryczny Poznań” and “Gdy zostajesz u mnie na noc.”

The band’s live performances were characterized by energetic atmospheres and controversial lyrics, contributing to their enduring popularity in Poland. Pidżama Porno also made notable appearances at festivals like Jarocin and Woodstock.

Despite several hiatuses, including an indefinite suspension of activities announced in 2007, Pidżama Porno continued to captivate audiences with occasional reunions and performances, showcasing their influence on the Polish alternative music scene.

In 2014, the band announced its reactivation as a trio, consisting of Grabowski, Kuzyn, and Kozak. They embarked on tours and released new albums like “Sprzedawca Jutra” (2019), which achieved Gold status.

With a legacy spanning over three decades, Pidżama Porno remains an iconic figure in Polish rock music, celebrated for their distinctive sound, thought-provoking lyrics, and enduring impact on the country’s cultural landscape.
