Clan of Xymox is a Dutch dark wave/gothic rock band formed in 1981 in Nijmegen, Netherlands. Initially known as Xymox, the band changed its name to Clan of Xymox in 1984 due to copyright issues. The group was founded by Ronny Moorings, Anka Wolbert, and Pieter Nooten.
Their music is characterized by moody atmospheric soundscapes, haunting melodies, and melancholic lyrics, blending elements of post-punk, synth-pop, and electronic music. Clan of Xymox gained prominence in the 1980s with their self-titled debut album in 1985, which featured tracks like “A Day” and “Stranger.”
Throughout their career, Clan of Xymox has released numerous albums, including “Medusa” (1986), “Twist of Shadows” (1989), “Hidden Faces” (1997), and “Days of Black” (2017), among others. They have maintained a dedicated fanbase within the gothic and dark wave music scenes and continue to tour and release new material.
