Marko Hietala is a Finnish musician, vocalist, bassist and composer, best known as a former member of the band Nightwish, where he served as bassist and vocalist from 2001 to 2021. His distinctive deep voice and ability to play bass significantly enriched the band’s sound, especially in its symphonic and metal arrangements. In addition to his work with Nightwish, Marko has been active in many other projects, making him one of the most important musicians in the Finnish metal scene.
In 2019, Marko released his first solo album entitled “Pyre of the Black Heart,” which combines elements of progressive rock, folk and metal, showcasing the wide spectrum of his musical skills.
