Igorrr + Amenra, Der Weg Einer Freiheit, Hangman's Chair
After a great performance in Warsaw and at Mystic Festival 2022, Igorrr will return to our country accompanied by outstanding guests! The musicians will promote the album "Spirituality And Distortion", which was released in 2020 by Metal Blade Records.
Performing alongside Igorrr will be Amenra - an icon of Belgian sludge & post-metal, French doom collective Hangman's Chair and a German post-black metal lineup called Der Weg Einer Freiheit. The bands will perform in Poland consecutively: March 30 at the A2 club in Wroclaw and March 31 at Gdansk's B90.
IGORRR (France) alternative metal, experimental metal:
A comment under one of Igorrr's songs on YouTube suggests that the project's sound is best described as "music falling out of a backpack." As ridiculous as it may sound, it's hard to find a better definition of what Gautier Serre does in the songs. There is literally everything going on in the works of this French eccentric, and we dread to think what sits in the irreverent recesses of his mind. Breakcore and classical music have their place here.
AMENRA (Belgium) sludge metal, post-metal:
Amenra already at the height of their debut "Mass III" piqued the interest of quite a few seekers of extreme sensations in the metal world, and with each subsequent album they only deepened the already accrued hype. Literally everything about this band is at play - starting with the Church of Ra initiative, which unites masses of people, and ending, of course, with the music. Music that gushes with negative emotions, music that provides a spiritual experience that stays for years. This mix of sludge and doom metal, which also features post-metal or post-hardcore references, has an extremely specific function. You certainly won't dance to it, but you'll probably find elements of your soul that you didn't know about. Something like visiting a church, but of its own accord and much more interesting.
DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT (Germany) post-black metal:
Their name can be literally translated as "the way of freedom," and what is black metal if not absolute stylistic freedom and the search for ever new paths? Der Weg einer Freiheit are some of the leaders of post-black metal, a trend that has somehow ceased to be one of the leading forces of modern extremism, but still has much good to offer. In the German crew's case, these are furious shots, where tremolo finds a common path with the influences of prog rock or even post-rock. Perfect proof that metal is alive and bubbling with new ideas all the time.
HANGMAN'S CHAIR (France) doom metal, shoegaze:
Hangman's Chair have struggled for a long time to capture the interest of scenesters, and their gradual move away from coarse stoner towards gothic doom metal underpinned by shoegaze has helped them brilliantly. The best proof of this is this year's "A Loner," which is the best proof that Type O Negative and Slowdive could quietly have a baby. These are not easy numbers, especially considering the lyrics oscillating around the darkest varieties of depression, but their power, multitude of emotive melodies and maximum sincerity are able to attract anyone.
