The Shipyard – a place where powerful sound torpedoes are being launched began production in The Tricity (Gdansk/Sopot/Gdynia) in 2011.
Founding member Piotr Pawłowski (bass), musician/songwriter for legendary cold wave group Made in Poland, assembled the initial line-up including musicians that have collaborated with numerous Polish bands over the years (Heart & Soul, Kiev Office, Sound Of Pixies, Karol Schwarz All Stars).
“We Will Sea” – band’s debut album (released by Nasiono Records) received very good reviews and put the band on a position of one of the most exciting new polish bands. They showed it was true, due to hyper energetic gigs in clubs and festivals (Off Festival 2012 in Katowice and more)
Their songs : “Downtown”, “The Shipyard” and “Oyster Card”, became alternative hits and make their way into polish houses – a small vessels fighting bravely and without remorse with musical trash.
The Shipyard moves between classic cold wave alienation, a reverberating melancholy reminiscent of shoegaze, and heavier alt rock. Jurewicz's vocals channel the band's moody sound, as melodies soaked in pinching sadness yield to bursts of mad energy.
